 I think what’s really upsetting

Is

We were falling 

But 

The ego got in the way

We knew it was what we both wanted

But

Wishing things were different

Knowing that they could be

This could break the cycle

But

The ego got in the way

I spoke my truth

I hoped it would be enough

And it was

The ego got in the way 

There I Am

Hidden

Tucked away among the dreams

The fantasies

The desires

The real me

My Truth

Inside

 There was a time when I wouldn’t have let you got

A time some like to call

The old me

But was it the old me

Or

Me

Fading

I forget what it’s like to be in love

All I have is a memory

An impression

An apparition

Of how I used to feel

Will I still feel that almost forgotten way
